Naukri and LinkedIn terms, explained
The words you'll meet on Naukri and LinkedIn when recruiters look for you, each in a sentence or two.
- Resdex
- Naukri's resume database. Recruiters pay to search it by keywords and filter by experience, location, salary and notice period; it's where most recruiter calls start. Read more
- NVite
- A Naukri recruiter's invitation to apply for a specific job, sent because your profile matched their search. Read more
- Resume headline
- The one-line summary at the top of a Naukri profile. Recruiters see it first in search results, so it should carry your target title and top skills. Read more
- Key skills
- The skills list on a Naukri profile. Recruiter keyword searches match against it, so it should list the skills for the role you want, not every skill you've used.
- Profile summary
- A short paragraph on your Naukri profile saying what you do, proof with numbers and what you want next. Read more
- Took action on your profile
- Naukri's email when a recruiter viewed your profile, downloaded your CV or viewed your contact details.
- Notice period
- How long before you can join a new job. Recruiters often filter searches by it, so it should be current and honest.
- Search appearances
- LinkedIn's count of how often your profile appeared in searches in a week, with the companies the searchers work at. Read more
- InMail
- A LinkedIn message from someone you aren't connected to, often a recruiter using LinkedIn's paid tools.
- Open to Work (recruiters only)
- A LinkedIn setting that tells people using recruiter tools you're looking, without showing a banner to everyone else.
- Profile freshness
- How recently your job-portal profile was active or updated. Recruiters can filter by it, so stale profiles sink in results.
- Recruiter outreach
- Recruiters contacting you about a job: NVites, invites and messages. Profile views and CV downloads are interest, not outreach.
