How to write a Naukri resume headline recruiters find
By Nitin Panwar, former AVP of GenAI at Naukri.com · Updated 3 November 2026
A good Naukri resume headline states the job title you want, your years of experience and your 3–4 strongest skills, in the words recruiters search for, in one line. For example: "Senior Backend Engineer | 7 yrs | Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS | Fintech". Avoid vague phrases like "seeking a challenging role", which no recruiter searches for.
The formula
Target title | years of experience | 3–4 core skills | domain or proof point.
- Title: the market title, the one in job posts, not your internal designation.
- Experience: recruiters filter by it anyway; stating it helps them read you fast.
- Skills: the ones that appear in the jobs you want, most important first.
- Domain or proof: "Fintech", "B2B SaaS", "Team of 8": one detail that sets you apart.
Examples
More examples for 12 roles, by seniority, are on our role pages.
- Data Analyst | 3 yrs | SQL, Power BI, Python, Excel | E-commerce analytics
- Product Manager | 6 yrs | B2B SaaS, Roadmaps, Experimentation | 0→1 launches
- Inside Sales Manager | 5 yrs | B2B SaaS, Pipeline, Salesforce | Team of 8
- Chartered Accountant | 4 yrs | GST, Statutory Audit, Ind AS | Big 4
Mistakes that hide you
- Objective statements ("Looking for a challenging opportunity…").
- Only an internal title ("SDE-2", "Associate L3").
- Ten skills in a row with no title.
- A headline for one role and key skills for another.
Questions people ask
- How long should a Naukri resume headline be?
- One line. Keep it short enough to read at a glance; the title and top skills matter more than length.
- Should my headline match my current designation?
- It should match the role you want next, as long as it's honest. If your current title is internal or unusual, use the common market title for the same work.
- How often should I change my headline?
- When your target role or top skills change. Small genuine updates also keep the profile recently modified.
