Naukri profile not getting calls? Why it happens, and 9 fixes
By Nitin Panwar, former AVP of GenAI at Naukri.com · Updated 3 November 2026
Most Naukri calls come from recruiters searching the resume database, not from your applications. If you get no calls, your profile usually isn't showing up for the words recruiters type for your role, or it looks inactive, so it sinks below fresher profiles. Fix the headline and key skills to match those words, keep the profile recently updated, and make your experience, location and notice period easy to filter.
Why applications alone rarely get calls
A popular Naukri job can get hundreds of applications. Recruiters rarely read them in order; many go to the resume database instead, type the skills and title they need, filter by experience, location and notice period, and call the profiles at the top.
So two things decide whether your phone rings: whether you appear in those searches, and whether your profile looks right in the few seconds a recruiter spends on it.
The 9 fixes, in the order we'd do them
- Write your resume headline with the exact job title you want and your 3–4 strongest skills, in the words recruiters use, not your company's internal title.
- Clean up key skills: keep the skills for the role you want at the top, and remove old ones that pull in searches for jobs you don't want.
- Update your profile regularly. Recruiters can filter by how recently a profile was active or modified, and fresher profiles rank higher. Even a small genuine edit counts.
- Make your current role and company accurate. Recruiters often filter on current designation; a vague title hides you.
- State your notice period honestly and keep it current. Many searches filter out long notice periods.
- Set preferred locations to the cities you'll really move to. Location is one of the first filters recruiters apply.
- Write a profile summary that opens with what you do, for whom, and one result with a number.
- Upload a CV that matches the profile: the same title, skills and dates. Mismatches look careless.
- Turn on and read your Naukri emails: "took action on your profile" and NVites tell you who is looking and for which roles.
How to tell which fix you need
Your inbox already holds the evidence. If recruiters view your profile but don't call, the profile looks wrong for the role. If the invites you get are for a different role than the one you want, your headline and skills are pulling in the wrong searches. If nothing arrives at all, you're not showing up, which is usually freshness, title or skills.
GetJobCalls reads these portal emails (read-only, with your permission) and shows the pattern in a free snapshot: what recruiters did, which roles they invited you for, and what's missing.
What doesn't help
- Applying to more jobs with the same profile. It adds applications, not visibility.
- Stuffing every skill you've ever used into key skills. It brings irrelevant searches and dilutes the ones you want.
- Paid "featured profile" boosts before fixing the basics. More visibility for a profile that looks wrong doesn't turn into calls.
Questions people ask
- Does updating my Naukri profile daily help?
- Keeping the profile recently updated helps because recruiters can filter by recent activity. A real edit every few days is enough; daily cosmetic edits add little once you're already recent.
- Why do I get calls for the wrong roles?
- Your headline or key skills match the searches for those roles. Remove the skills and titles that pull in roles you don't want, and lead with the title you do want.
- How long does it take to see more calls after fixing my profile?
- In our experience, recruiter activity changes within one to three weeks of a profile fix, because recruiters search continuously. Measure it by counting recruiter invites and messages per week before and after.
